- The signer must appear before the notary — in person or by approved audio-video (RON).
- Valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID for every signer.
- Do not sign or date the document before you are in front of the notary.
- The notarial certificate must be complete: venue, date, signer name, commission details, and seal.
- Many counties reject documents where the seal is cut off, smudged, or overlaps text — leave clear space.
